Watch out sexy grade schoolers

I hadn't been paying attention to the recent alleged sexual assault case in Texas. But if you had any doubt that we lived in a misogynistic society this article should let you know our patriarchal hierarchy is alive and well:
A meeting Thursday night that was billed as a way to discuss concerns some have about the investigation into a series of alleged sexual assaults on an 11-year-old girl turned into a forum that many used to blame the girl police contend is the victim of heinous attacks.
...
Supporters didn't claim that the men and boys did not have sex with the young girl; instead they blamed the girl for the way she dressed or claimed she must have lied about her age...

Quanell X ... told the audience of more than 130 people who had packed a small community center that the gathering's goal was not to criticize the girl but to question the investigation by police, although he did question why she didn't report the attack to authorities herself.
In defense of the community the article reports that others noted these were not valid reasons to downplay the assault. But the fact that people still have to be told that dressing that way isn't asking for it, that 11 year olds can't have legally consensual sexual relations with adults and that sometimes victims are afraid to step forward with accusations ... well I find that disturbing.
