Losing faith in Obama

From the AP, Obama would expand Bush's faith-based initiatives:

Reaching out to evangelical voters, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is announcing plans to expand President Bush's program steering federal social service dollars to religious groups and — in a move sure to cause controversy — support some ability to hire and fire based on faith.
So now the Democrats are getting behind constitutionally-questionable programs? Looks like I may have to start picking through third-party candidates for one who supports my values.

Again.

Ouch. This has me very worried, since I have been heavily concerned about the break-down of separation of church and state.

Up til now I've been right down the line with Obama. Now I'm shaken a little, but still supporting strongly. I'm just hoping that he's only pandering to the Right to get votes and isn't really serious about this.

I'll be writing him....

As someone who canvassed for Obama in Indiana, this really bothers me. It's too bad that we don't have a parliamentary system like most of the rest of the democratic world. If we did, third parties would be viable, and all this pandering might not happen.

Still, Obama or McCain? It's Obama for me. No question.
